Question: I received an e-mail the other day that advertised the skincare product Freezox, so I checked out their website. It sounds awesome! I’m not really sure what all the ingredients are, but it promised to be the strongest anti-wrinkle cream on the market and although it is so potent, it is totally legal. I am so desperate to get rid of the wrinkles under my eyes that I’m willing to pay a bit more for a really good cream. Is this brand as good as it says or is it just another internet scam?
Answer: It can be hard to know which products are reputable these days, particularly when so many are sold over the internet, all claiming to be better than the rest and making some pretty big promises. Unfortunately, in the case of Freezox, the product claims cannot be backed up by solid proof and the manufacturer of the brand shows no clinical studies that have been performed on their ‘controversial’ product.
Most of the language used in the product information sounds over-exaggerated, such as the warning not to apply it more than three times in a 24-hour period. Surprisingly, the ingredient list does show that it contains a few beneficial anti-wrinkle substances, in particular Acetyl Octopeptide-3 and Palmitoyl Tripeptide-5, plus jojoba oil, Hyaluronic acid and silk protein peptides. However, the consumer would need prior knowledge of skin care products to know whether these were good or not as no ingredient explanations are provided.
Finally, any company that claims to be offering their product at a remarkably reduced price ($197.55 per bottle as opposed to the ‘manufacturer’s suggested retail’ price of $579.00) but accepts no returns and offers no guarantees is one that should probably be avoided. Instead, purchase a cream with a similar formula, of which there are many, from a company with a more established name.
If you do shop for an anti-wrinkle product in a health store, pharmacy or on the Internet, you’ll often find hundreds of different brands containing a confusing array of ingredients. You may be tempted to experiment with different products until you find one that works. But this approach may be expensive. More importantly, not all products contain the quality and quantity of necessary ingredients to positively diminish the appearance of dark circles, puffiness, and eye bags while promoting younger looking eyes. That’s why you’ll need to do a little bit of research to find the best, most potent brand for your needs.
